Generosity Unleashed to Over 100 Families

7 11 2008

Our first community service initiative keeps growing! On November 22, we are giving over 100 under resourced families a week of meals.

This initiative began with the Great Falls Optimist Club providing $2500 to serve 40 families. As the magnitude of need for food among Sterling families was identified through our community needs assessment, we extended beyond ourselves to serve over 100 families. In response, people from across Northern Virginia and the U.S. are donating the additional funds necessary for meeting this need. All of our food is being purchased through Angle Food.Angel Food

We are glad to be partnered with seven Sterling and Reston schools who have identified the families we will be serving. We are also excited to be partnered with the Sugarland Run HOA, who has generously donated use of their Community Center as our distribution point.

Presently, we are identifying a delivery team of 55 people/families to bring a week of meals to 2 or 3 families each. These volunteers are meeting at the Sugarland Run Community Center, on November 22, at 2:30pm to pick up the food for distribution the same afternoon. If you would like to consider joining our delivery team or would like to obtain more information about this initiative, please call or email Ron at or 703-439-4858.

Through this initiative and our ongoing community needs assessment, we are determining the value of continuing this service initiative year round.

We are excited to be unleashing generosity in the Sterling area while empowering people to serve people.
